I'm a Fan of Floyd

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I believe Floyd does not, has not, did not dope. And I would eat green eggs and ham to support that belief. I won't argue with the folks who think that "everyone does it" and "some people are just unlucky enough to get caught." And maybe I'm naive about what's going on in pro sports. It's possible. I want to believe the majority of guys (and gals) don't dope. That brings up a good question actually. All you bitter types out there (you know who you are)...do you believe the chicks are shooting up with the guys at the same time?

Anyway, I'm off topic now. I just wanted to say that, a few months ago, I found the Trust But Verify blog which is generally supportive of the Floyd case but strives to present all material in a mostly objective fashion. It's obvious that they also want to believe in Floyd, which is why I like them. But I think they're doing a pretty good job of offering up all available content and material on the subject. It's where I get the daily news on what's happening with the Floyd case and I am grateful to them for the time they spend collecting and collating news.

Absolutely.

It’s certainly not as rampant as it is in men’s pro cycling because the money is not there and therefor the pressure to perform is not pushed to the same extreme. But at the top level doping is there for sure.

hello, Nina Kraft! could you answer Shasha's question please!?!

i am a Floyd fan.

but, don't give him tooooo much credit. he has Kid Rock as a role model after all.

and, Lance used to refer to him and Zabriskie as 'Dumb and Dumber'...

i mean if you think Tyler Hamilton was a straight arrow, but somehow got banned despite appeal for two years, then you really should rethink a steadfast position on Floyd...

i'm just sayin'.

I don't think the ladies dope, for the reason Smithers cited: the extremely high level of competition and pressure and money aren't there yet, so it's possible for women to be successful without doping. That's not to say that some don't - just not as prevalent as with the men. My opinion of course. I take exception to that making me 'bitter' though. The fact that I believe that e.g. our current administration has f*cked up our country doesn't make me bitter, it's just a fact.

While I hesitate to jump on the "Floyd's clean" bandwagon, I have no issues with jumping on the "it ain't over 'till it's over" bandwagon. I'm firmly in the Trust But Verify camp, and I think WADA in general and Dick Pound in particular need to be held responsible for failure to do their jobs. The IOC created WADA, created the protocol and process associated with testing, and I think they should follow it.

As an old (56) biycle enthusiast who has been avidly following the Tour since Lucien van Impe won it, I am shocked to see young cyclists embracing Floyd's fabrications. I have found his public image to be shabby, and his cycling to be something distinctly less than heroic. I suspected he had doped on the day of his "miraculous" comeback.

Then again, there are those I hang with who derided me for my unshakeable faith in Lance. I still believe he stayed clean. He certainly got tested enough.

We all know that doping has been with us in cycling for a long time. Maybe someday it will be brought under control. If you can find a copy, read "Rough Ride" by Paul Kimmage, published in 1990 in the UK by Yellow Jersey Press.

What I would really like to see is riders who test positive taking responsibility and admiiting that there is a problem. I believe that is the only way the sport will get cleaned up.

Hmmm, there's a rumor Rebecca Twigg and the rest of the Eddie B. crew were blood packing and/or blood doping for the Olympics. Rumor only, and it seems like it wasn't banned at the time.
